Our Story

In the heart of St. Louis, Missouri, a small clinic opened its doors 22 years ago with a mission to change lives through the power of psychotherapy. Founded by Dr. Huey Hawkins, an empathetic psychotherapist with a passion for mental health, HAWK Behavioral Health (HBH) quickly gained a reputation for its compassionate approach and dedication to patient care.

Dr. Hawkins believed that mental health was as crucial as physical health. With a team of skilled therapists, he offered a warm, welcoming environment where clients felt safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. As word spread, families from all walks of life began seeking help at HBH, and the demand for services quickly outgrew the original clinic.

Recognizing the need to expand, Dr. Hawkins took a brave leap. Over the next few years, HBH extended its reach, opening new clinics in neighboring states. Each location was forged with the same foundational principles of empathy, respect, and commitment to excellence. The team meticulously selected therapists who shared their vision, ensuring that every client received the best possible care, regardless of where they lived.

As the years rolled on, HBH became a leader in the field, known for innovating therapy techniques and providing community-focused programs. They introduced workshops on mental wellness, collaborated with schools to raise awareness about anxiety and depression, and offered resources that empowered individuals to nurture their mental health.

HBH's journey wasn’t always easy. There were challenges: budget constraints, evolving regulations, and the ever-changing landscape of mental health care. However, each challenge was met with unwavering determination. Dr. Hawkins fostered an open dialogue with his team, encouraging input and collaboration, which often led to innovative solutions that strengthened the organization.

Fifteen years after that first office began, Dr. Hawkins stood before a gathering of his team and colleagues at their annual retreat. As he looked around the room, he was overwhelmed with pride. HBH now serves clients across six states, each location a beacon of hope and healing in its community.

With the expansion came a renewed commitment to quality. HBH implemented rigorous training programs to ensure its therapists stayed at the forefront of research and therapeutic practices. It launched initiatives to support minority mental health and address systemic issues that influenced well-being in its communities.

HBH is not just an organization; it's a family—bound by a shared mission to help others navigate the complexities of their minds and lives. With each passing year, they remain steadfast in their commitment to providing the best psychotherapy services available, knowing that every story matters, and every client deserves a chance at a brighter tomorrow. The journey continues, driven by hope, one client at a time.
